ALL of the C4 Project's educational software can be used over the internet. However, there are situations where it is more convenient to use them offline, or on computers that are not connected to the internet. The archives provided here allow to you run our software on your own computer, without an internet connection. They require Netscape Navigator 3.04 (or later) and Chime 1.0 (or later), which can be downloaded from our Chime Help Center.

Before you download any of our software, we request that you fill out a short registration survey. The information requested is for records purposes only. These records are essential to the future renewal of our grants to continue software development. Thank you for your cooperation.

This self-guided tutorial, created for beginning students, shows how to use Chime
molecular models and gives students a few glimpses into the potential power and beauty of molecular
modeling. To begin the tutorial, start up Netscape Navigator (4.0x on Win95, 3.01 for all others).
Do not establish a network connection. From Netscape, open the file "index.html" from within the
root Chime Tutorial directory (folder).

Insulin: Structure of a Protein Hormone
|

This tutorial explores the unique structure of the small protein insulin. Emphasis
is placed on the disulfide bonds and alpha helices within the molecule. To begin the tutorial,
start up Netscape Navigator. Do not establish a network connection. From Netscape, open the file
"index.html" from within the root "insulin" directory (folder).

Currently the Molecular Library 2.0 only works reliably with Windows
95/98/NT. We are having problems with stability under the MacOS because of bugs in
Netscape's Java virtual machine on that platform. Mac users are welcome to try the software, but
you will most likely experience crashes. We are working on a solution to the problem.
